“We all have the ability to help and connect with others from around the world because even if we don’t have the financial means to donate, all of us have the ability to give up our time.” Ayah-Sofia, Edinburgh University Mercy Corps Student Corps

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Mercy Corps. Volunteers help us maximise our connection with communities around the world, helping us raise vital funds throughout the year. From summer sporting events, office admin to schools volunteers, we couldn't do it without you.

Current Volunteering Opportunities

Our volunteering opportunities vary throughout the year, below are some of the ways in which you may be able to volunteer with us;

Summer Events - Our summer events rely on a team of enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers. Volunteers are vital to the success of both the participants and the event. Our volunteers have co-ordinated registration, kept cyclists on the right path, pulled Kayaks to the shore of Loch Tay, cheered participants across the finish line and presented them with their medals. Their support has been incredible and we love to work with them. Join our events volunteer team by emailing eu-volunteer@mercycorps.org.

Schools Programme - We deliver presentations and run a variety of workshops in local schools, engaging students in global issues from refugee rights to conflict management and water security. We are keen to train schools volunteers in Edinburgh.

Emergency - In an emergency, we are working hard to ensure that we can support those in crisis. Our fundraising team welcomes volunteers to help with a range of administrative support.

Think Global. Act Local

Our volunteering opportunities are based in the UK, primarily in the Edinburgh Area. We do not offer volunteering opportunities overseas, one of our core strengths in global programming is that we hire staff nationally, in the countries where we work. This approach helps the economy of the local region, empowers the local people, and engages the community in bringing positive change.

Occassionally there are opportunities for people to support our international programming through Internships.
