Displaced people

Imagine being forced to flee your own home with only the clothes on your back and no idea when you might be able to return. That is the reality for more than 65 million people around the world who are displaced within their own country or seeking refuge elsewhere.

That number is the highest it's been since the end of World War II due to an unprecedented number of prolonged conflicts, including the war in Syria and ongoing or intermittent conflict in South Sudan, the Central African Republic, DR Congo and Gaza.

No matter where they live, refugees and displaced people face huge challenges every day, from finding a safe shelter to figuring out how to cook their next meal. Mercy Corps works around the world to make sure displaced families have shelter, food, clean water, safe places to play and opportunities to better their community.
