In 2017–2018, the Building Resilience through the Integration of Gender and Empowerment (BRIGE) program piloted a Household Dialogue activity in Nepal and Niger to address gender norms at the household level. Research found that it successfully shifted gender norms around women’s participation in decision-making and activities outside the home.

The purpose of this Household Dialogue toolkit is to provide clear implementation guidance for organizations to strengthen their overall programming approaches through addressing gender norms at the household level through dialogue, leading to more inclusive decision-making and sharing of household responsibilities. This intervention toolkit, available for download in full, provides guidance, best practices, and a training manual for adapting and implementing the household dialogue activity in any program that seeks to promote women’s participation.
