Drivers of Digitization of SACCOs in Uganda

Since 2013, Mercy Corps and Ensibuuko Tech Limited in Uganda partnered to improve and scale Ensibuuko's Mobile Banking and Information System (MOBIS) for Savings and Credit Cooperatives (SACCOs). One of the first users of this system was Rukiga SACCO Ltd in South Western Uganda. Ensibuuko is a Ugandan startup start-up that provides a cloud-based micro-finance software for community-level financial entities in Africa.
With increasing adoption and interest in digitizing savings and credit organisations across Sub Saharan Africa, Mercy Corps partnered with Asigma Advisory to capture the Uganda impact of digitization for the adoption, and to document learnings from the digitization process.
