Every evening, members of the Mercy Corps emergency team raise their tents — either in the conference room or in the kitchen — unroll their sleeping bags, climb inside and nod off after a hard day's work. Each morning, the makeshift campground-in-a-building is struck and the space transformed into an office — Mercy Corps' command centre here in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
This living and working space was donated by Trilogy, a Seattle-based telecommunications company with a subsidiary here. This space has been critical to Mercy Corps' efforts to reach earthquake survivors here: a place to regroup and discuss at the end of the day, as well as plan the next day's activities.
