Jock Encombe has been the Chairman of Mercy Corps European Headquarters since 2008, and a board member since 2006. He is an ex-officio member of the Mercy Corps US board. His work with Mercy Corps has taken him to Afghanistan, South Sudan, West Bank /Gaza and Indonesia.
Jock is an independent leadership and organisational consultant and psychologist. He was formerly founder and Director of YSC Scotland and a Director of YSC Ltd – the UK’s premier firm of business psychologists. He has worked closely with many of the UK’s most successful organisations and leaders and has extensive international consulting experience, covering a range of industries including financial services, FMCG, fashion retail, utilities and life sciences.
Before joining YSC in 1999 he was for 10 years an adult psychotherapist and supervisor, based at Guy’s and St Thomas’s hospitals in London.
He has also worked in strategy consultancy, television production and magazine publishing.
Jock has four children, lives in Edinburgh and enjoys reading, fishing and tennis.
