John Stephens raised $1,950 for Haiti Earthquake Recovery
Hello Everyone
Many of you are watching the unfolding scenes of horror and desperation in Haiti. Many of you have asked me how to best help. As someone who has been on the ground with Mercy Corps for two major disasters, the Indian tsunami and the South Asia earthquake, I can tell you that what's needed most right now is immediate assistance--and the quickest and most efficient way to deliver that assistance is by donating to relief agencies like Mercy Corps. Of course you won't be surprised to learn that I'm a huge fan of Mercy Corps' work--because I've seen it, and done it first-hand. We stretch your dollar incredibly far by working with local partners who have on the ground experience and leveraging our agency's 30-year history of emergency interventions to provide desperate communities with the resources they need to survive and then thrive.
Please take a moment and consider contributing to our Haiti response. Our team is landing in Haiti as you read this, and your donated dollars will ensure they are able to hit the ground running to bring desperately needed relief to the most vulnerable of those affected.
Thanks Everyone, your generosity is nothing short of amazing! John
A 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck near Haiti's capital of Port-au-Prince Tuesday afternoon, collapsing buildings, including at least one hospital. Tens of thousands are feared dead in the largest quake to strike the impoverished Caribbean nation in 200 years. Power is out, telecommunications are spotty and food and water are reportedly growing scarce.
