Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction

The case study highlights that community-based disaster risk reduction activities in the Kailali district have contributed to the HFA’s strategic priorities and objectives by:

• Ensuring that disaster risk reduction is a priority with a strong institutional basis for implementation
• Identifying, assessing, and monitoring risks, and carrying out early warn-
  ing systems
• Supporting knowledge, education and innovation to build a culture of safety and resilience
• Reducing underlying risk factors
• Increasing preparedness for effective response and recovery
