Restarting Broken Lives

For seventeen years of brutal war and hopeful recovery, Mercy Corps served displaced families in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 2010, we turned over all activities to a Bosnian non-profit organisation, The Centre for Development and Support.

Mercy Corps actively served families in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1993 until 2010. Mercy Corps' main goal in Bosnia and Herzegovina was to accelerate and promote the return of displaced people, to consolidate returns that had already happened and to support the return communities affected by the war through revitalisation and stabilization activities. In 2010, Mercy Corps finalized its exit strategy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, turning over all implementation responsibilities to a Bosnian NGO, Centar za Razvoj i Podursku (CRP), which translated means The Centre for Development and Support. In addition to working in partnership with Mercy Corps on a range of programmes, CRP earned recognition in its own right, and has gained support and funding for a wide range of independent programmes. Now an independent partner organisation of Mercy Corps, CRP contributes significantly to the development of Bosnia and Herzegovina through economic development, the promotion of human rights and conservation of the environment.
